People always ask me, “who does a photographer choose as their photographer?!”
The answer is, these guys.
This fabulous couple photographed our wedding. And from the moment I interviewed them as potential photographers, we were hooked on each other. Seriously. I can’t get enough of these guys. I am so happy to have them as friends. The fact that I get to trade photography sessions with artists that I so deeply respect and admire? That’s just a kick ass bonus. The fact that artists that I so deeply respect and admire WANT to trade photography sessions with ME?!?!?! Um, that’s the most humbling thing ever.
Heather and I, probably at a playground while chasing our kids, decided to swap Christmas Card shoots. She’d shoot our Christmas Card photos, and I’d shoot theirs. Heather came up with the simple idea of a string of white lights behind us all in a wooded area. My parents backyard fit the bill (conservation land and a crazy invention by my dad that allowed us to plug the lights in from the house) and so we all met up. The little ones had a blast together while we setup, and then we were off. I shot these guys first, and then Heather shot us. It was a fantastic morning.
One of the things I loved immediately about the Ciras’ was their joy. You’ll see here – they just radiate happiness. It’s so wonderful to be around. Ciras Photography shoots weddings primarily (though they are moving more and more into family and kids), and I am the opposite. Whenever I do shoot a wedding, I try to channel their contagious joy so that I can be just as fun for my couples as they were for Mike and I. Seriously, it rocks having happy people photographing you on your happiest day. It was their joy (and wit) that made it so easy to hire them.
Their little one has inherited that joy. And it’s crazy awesome.
Seriously, how cute are these guys?!?!?!I LOVE this last one.
Ah. My wonderful friends. Thank you for the honor of taking your Christmas Card photos again this year!!! I can’t wait to see how our friendships and families continue to grow as time passes. Love you guys.
p.s. I waited forever to share this post because I was going to link back to Heather’s own post about our photos. However, they’re taking a break from their blog for a bit so I figured I’d just go ahead and share their pictures anyway. 😉
