And Then... He Was A Year Old.

Baby K is now a year old.

Before we take a look at his smash-the-cake session, let's take a moment to look back:

From newborn to almost a year old, I was honored to follow Baby K through the first year of his life.  His parents choose the 6-package deal, where I would visit every other month.  Of course, sometimes life got in the way so, some of these are a little further than 2 months apart, but still, you get the idea.   I think it's thrilling to see him change and, hold himself up, then sit up on his own, and then stand!  What a neat thing to watch unfold!

Baby K's parents opted to add one more session to their package --- a Smash-The-Cake session.  I've done these at full blown birthday parties but for Baby K, we did a "dress rehearsal."  It was just Baby K, his parents, me, my camera, and a cupcake.  :)  And it was a ton of fun!  Doing a dress rehearsal is a great idea if you're worried too many relatives are going to get in the way of the photos you want.  Of course, sometimes, relatives getting in the way make for great photos too!

Before we got into the smashing of the (cup)cake, I took a few before shots...  How handsome and grown up he looks!

From day one, I have marveled at these eyes...And then, it was time for the cake.  At first, he was the cleanest one-year-old eater I'd ever seen.  I think his parents were worried this wouldn't get as messy as hoped (or expected).  I told them to just give it time.... we always get there.....And get there we did! :)This one cracks me up.After our very successful and messy session, it was time to wash all that oreo cookie cupcake off.  Bathtime is so much fun.  Happy Birthday, Baby K.  You've grown into a really fun toddler and it's been my pleasure to come along for the ride.
