This year I’m breaking out a few themes so you can choose which fits best. Not only will these be on their usual weekend (Nov 9/10), but I’m adding weekday times as well as the following weekend (Nov 16/17) so there should be a time that works for everyone. I know folks like to have visuals but we’re still a bit early out for me to create these setups. SO, let me get descriptive for you.
BRADY BUNCH: This theme is so simple in execution but really stunning on cards. Each family member poses in front of a red or green backdrop (the green is shown above with me, the fool, posing for you with antlers and a red nose). These close solo portraits will capture personality. When put together, it’ll look like a Brady Bunch grid on your card, showing each member off in a fun way but also a great collection of your wonderful family. A few notes to consider: YOU can choose whether the backdrops for your family are all red, all green, or a mix of both. You can also decide just to have your kids in it; even if you’ve got an only child we can make the grid up with different silly faces which is also really fun. Honestly the possibilities are endless here and that’s why it’s so great. Plus, you only have to think about what everyone’s wearing on the top portion of your bodies; the bottom half won’t end up in the portraits!
AWKWARD FAMILY PORTRAITS: put up against a wash of reds, greens, and warm lights in a bokeh effect (a similar example is in the first shot below), you’ll bring the worst sweaters imaginable, weird wigs, turtlenecks, glasses, whatever you want, and we’ll create some real gems of hilarity. This option is for the folks who like to think outside of the box and go for something truly different that’ll have everyone who receives your card calling to tell you how much your card made them laugh. Some great examples are below (these aren’t my images; almost all are from awkwardportraits.com which I just discovered while finding examples for you and it is a joy).
SNOWY FOREST: This one is a lovely white backdrop with snow-covered trees in the background. While we can squeeze whole families in here, this is most ideal for solo shots or for up to 3 kiddos. See the (OLD!) examples below. (These girls are both twelve now. haha.) It’s a great backdrop and I’m excited to bring it back out again. You should be able to click on each image to see them a little better.
NAUTICAL HOLIDAY: This one is another one that shies away from the red and green of the season. This backdrop will be a base of my favorite blue textured backdrop and then with a gorgeous floral installment of lighter greens, whites and blues, with some starfish here and there. Below you can see the backdrop; the installation will happen after the Halloween portraits are done on October 26th. Put on your best seersucker or summery dress (it’s indoors so no need to worry about weather!) and let’s capture that quintessential New England look.

Sessions are 20 minutes long and the fee is $395. Prints, holiday cards, and digital files are a la carte and sold separately at an ordering session that takes place in my studio at the time of your choosing roughly 1 week after our time together.
p.s. if none of these indoor sessions tickle your fancy, I’ll also be doing the Tree Farm Mini’s the weekend before!
