Museum of Science Skyline Room Engagement Party

I was lucky enough to be asked to photograph an engagement party at the Museum of Science Skyline Room in Boston.  WHAT a view!  The party was thrown by the mother of the groom and what a great job she did! The happy couple - Allegra and Josh.  Isn't Allegra the most beautiful name?  And she certainly has a beautiful smile to go with it.At each place setting, there were cards with different "wedding trivia" on them.  This  particular one was the mother-of-the-groom's personal favorite.  What an amazing idea for a wedding themed party...be it engagement, shower, rehearsal dinner, or even wedding!  There were 2 of each fact which means there were plenty to go around!  Love it! Thank you, Boston, for being so darn gorgeous.  One of the groomsmen and his gal.  How sweet. Gorgeous!!!!!The wall to wall windows and the incredibly bright sun that day provided lots of interesting photos as the cocktail hour progressed.  I love the sun saying 'hello' in the one above. My job was to photograph people mingling during the cocktail hour.  My job was made very easy by lots of smiling faces, gorgeous dresses (and shoes!), and the stunning backdrop.  Allegra and Josh sure have a lot of people who are super happy for them.  It was wonderful to see. At many events where I'm taking candid photos, there's always one or two people who notice me capturing them.  When they see me, they make a face.  Sometimes their faces are funny, sometimes they smile for the camera, sometimes they're even confused!  But I LOVE this one where the gentleman in the middle just looked over and gave a simple relaxed smile.  It makes me smile. Everyone looked fabulous!  I love the bride's brother's glasses.  So retro.  There was definitely a retro vibe to the party and I loved it.  I mean... that sun!!!! So gorgeous!!!  Sometimes it made it a bit difficult to take great portraits with the city in the background, but I just kept rearranging my camera settings to get it right.  Sure it would be easy to throw my flash on and capture the people perfectly while blaring out the city behind them... but what's the point of having that view to ignore it?!?! The bride and her maid of honor.  So adorable.  This wedding is going to be a stunner, I just know it.

It was an honor to be a part of this event.  I was only there for the cocktail hour but they had a jazz band later in the evening, along with a delicious menu from the kitchen of Wolfgang Puck.  A big congrats to the mother of the groom, Linda, who brought it all together.  What a great job!  You should be proud!!!
