Father's Day Mini Session #3

Today was a gorgeous day for another Father's Day Mini Session!  I met this family at their home and we used their backyard as the backdrop for these gorgeous kiddos.  People often overlook their own backyard as an option for shots, but I always double check to find out if there is one simple spot that might work.  In this case, Mom already knew she had a great backyard and I had my pick of options.  I picked this space between two trees with the fence in the back because it was interesting enough without overpowering the cuteness of the subjects.  And my oh my, what cute subjects we have here!  A few things I love:

  • My goal at any shoot with kids of different ages is to get the older ones to just smile constantly and look at the camera while we (the parents and I) try to get the attention of the wee ones.  It's a wonderful goal to have... but it doesn't always work.  However, these two older siblings here were STARS.  They just constantly smiled (and real, gorgeous smiles too.. not those tired fake ones you sometimes get after a while) and looked fabulous.  Well done guys!  Well done.
  • The top right photo I just love.  Look at how Big Brother is doting on Baby Sister.  In a session filled with posed photos, this one little candid shot just steals my heart!
  • I was hoping to get a shot of all three pairs of bare feet... reflecting the ages of the kiddos without showing their faces.  Just for something different.  Baby Sister has what Mom called "jelly legs" still, so we had her sit instead of an "assisted stand."  The result is the bottom right photo.  I am happy her face ended up in the photo because her expression is just awesome!
  • Though this family is a new client for Irish Eyes Photography, I've known them for a little while because they happen to be neighbors.  And, though Baby Sister here looks so much older than my little Rosie Mae (they're about 7 months apart), eventually they will just simply be the same age and go to school together.  I think our two girls will get into lots of fun trouble together.  I can't wait.  Luckily (hopefully), Big Sister and Brother here will keep our girls honest.  ;)

There should still be two more Father's Day mini sessions to share once they happen*.  Stay tuned!  Until then, check out the first and second sessions... I think it's so great how the same mini session theme can produce such different results for each family.  So fun!-Kerry:) *Yes, I know Father's Day is over, but our original date (and even our rain date) got rained out.  So, we're spreading the Father's Day joy over a longer period of time this year.  :)
