South Boston Memorial Softball Tournament

On June 23rd, residents of South Boston (my hometown) put together a softball tournament in memory of those the town had lost too early.  My brother Chris was one of the five honored.  It was an incredible event.  I understand this wasn't the first year, but this was the first year I was lucky enough to be a part of it.  It was an honor.  I know my brother was watching from where he is, happy.  Well, until his team lost, that is.  ;)Jennifer Foley Lynch, in charge of making the event go smoothly, did an excellent job.  Here she is reading the winning essay by twelve year old Thomas A. Casper Jr..  He wrote an amazing dedication to his Nana "Bobo" who had passed away. The National Anthem. My two cousins were on Chris' team.  I bet Chris was thrilled they came out to honor him in this way.My brother's best friend and his older cousin.  Seeing all these guys together brought back so many memories.  And it definitely felt like Chris was around that day.  The whole team. When I was a baby, I was the mascot for my brother's baseball team.  I kept my shirt all those years and here, Rosie Mae is wearing it for her Uncle's Team! This made my heart so happy. Here she sits in the arms of her Uncle Chris' best friend Jay, surrounded by many of Chris' friends.  I know she's only teeny tiny, but I hope events like these will keep her aware of her uncle, who she never got to meet.Thank you to everyone who made this great day possible!  I am so happy to have been a part of it.And, if you won the Irish Eyes Photography Raffle prize, I can't wait to hear from you!-Kerry:)
