It was a beautiful, amazing day. Two people insanely in love committing to being together for a lifetime. Every detail was considered while planning this day, and it went off without a hitch. It was lovely, sentimental, true to the grooms, and FUN. Ladies and gents, I present the wedding of Jason and Anthony.
We took the subway from the grooms' apartment to Central Park. It made for some great photographs. It also made for a really happy ride as onlookers gave us supportive grins and spouted congrats to the guys. Indeed.
Hand-fasting ceremony performed by Jason's aunt SarahAnne. It was lovely.
These two wrote their own vows. They were amazing. Perfectly written, eloquent, emotional.... SO emotional. We were all weeping...and then laughing... and then weeping...and then laughing right out loud.
You know the vows are entertaining when one of the grooms mentions his "ever camera ready complexion" and flashes this smile:
....it's true though; he really does have perfect skin.
The request was for everyone to include something pink or purple in their outfit. Everyone looked amazing and it was really cool how we all belonged together because of our color scheme. What a great idea. Here's Flower Girl L and her mum showing off their purples (and L's crazy amazing blue eyes).
The "theme" of their wedding was the idea of both family trees coming together. They got married in front of an incredible tree in Central Park, their cake topper was a wire sculpture of two trees growing into each other, and their families really DID come together. In all the weddings I've photographed and attended, I've never seen in-laws so open and comfortable with each other. It was really cool to see.
I LOVE this one. Doesn't it just capture that "moment after we're married feeling" perfectly???:
Their bridal party was EPIC.
After all the family portraits were taken and everyone else moved on to the reception, it was time for the grooms' portraits. As soon as I stuck them in the tree they got married in front of (you know me; always sticking people in trees), they said, "can we do the Spiderman kiss?" Haha. I of course said yes!
Not only is this scene just amazing on its own, but the gods of photography threw in the silhouette of a fiddle player in the background. For most of our time at this scene, we moved about, danced, and snapped photos to the tune of fiddle music. With our time peppered by only a few passersby, it was lovely and intimate and special for the grooms. I love that. I think every couple should get some quiet time between the ceremony and reception so they can be excited and peaceful and happy with each other. Usually that includes me snapping away, but I try to be more of a fly on the wall then a part of the conversation. Not only does this time allow the couple a moment to reflect on the powerful, huge moment they just had (married!), but by backing away and telling them "I'm here but do your thing," the portraits are REAL. And real is what I like.
The dancer and the actor:
I shared the above photo as a teaser on Facebook, and, when Jason shared it on his page, he captioned it with, "No life insurance policy yet." Which is perfect and hilarious and I love him.
I think this is one of my all time favorite shots. Totally candid. They're just hanging out on a bench. Talking. MARRIED.
Central Park. Can't get any better than this.
We took a cab to the reception and I hopped in the front to grab some shots of them together. I LOVE this.
Two seriously handsome faces right there.
Flower girl B and the minister getting down on the dance floor. I'm pretty sure B had the time of her life. Look at that smile!!! (Also, Ian was a super fun minister!)
There were MANY performances throughout the ceremony and reception and all of them were amazing. Sasha Pierce stopped by just to sing a couple numbers for the grooms. She rocked it.
LOVE.
I'm going to end it on this note:
Perfect.

I am so happy for you both. You are truly two of the nicest people I've ever met and I am so happy you found each other. Not to mention, you are one hell of a photogenic pair (it's those fabulous complexions like Jason said). I adore you both. Anthony... when you finally talk Jason into having kids, I better be hopping a bus to come photograph them! ;)-Kerry:)
